Just get bottles that fit with whatever pump you do end up with. Medela attaches to the narrow topped bottles so I needed to use an adaptor for the Born Free bottles (which I bought on clearance before LO was born so I felt like I had committed to them). LO just seemed to have a better experience with them and the fit in the avent microwave bottle sterilizer. I bought them when I got the Spectra and wish I had them from the beginning. They attach directly to the flange to pump right into the bottle. I use the Philips Avent natural wide-neck bottles so I do not need an adapter for the Spectra. I would get more if you need to pump more frequently and an extra pack of the little valves because looking for a missing valve in the middle of the night or trying to get one that rolled under the fridge is annoying as heck. I have six sets of the pump parts (flange, backflow protector, valve) for pumping twice a day with a leftover one for the next morning before I wash them. So, so, so, much happier with the Spectra.
